CAST and SoAR Unite to Advance Agricultural Science and Innovation

By Andi Anderson

The Council for Agricultural Science and Technology (CAST) and the Supporters of Agricultural Research (SoAR) Foundation have merged to strengthen agricultural science and innovation. This strategic integration will allow CAST to acquire SoAR’s assets and continue its mission of advocating for agricultural research.

Enhancing Agricultural Research

By merging with CAST, SoAR’s initiatives will gain broader reach through CAST’s network of experts and communication strategies. CAST will continue to support agricultural breakthroughs and provide science-based information to policymakers, industry leaders, and the public.

“This agreement represents a shared vision to elevate agricultural research,” said Chris Boomsma, CEO of CAST. “We are excited to integrate SoAR’s valuable work and continue advocating for agricultural innovation.”

Continuing SoAR’s Legacy

SoAR has played a key role in agricultural research funding, securing increased support for the USDA’s Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI). Their Retaking the Field reports highlighted scientific breakthroughs, and Science Breakthroughs 2030 outlined research priorities for the future.

By merging with CAST, SoAR ensures its mission continues, strengthening science-based agricultural policies and innovative research efforts.

“By joining forces with CAST, SoAR ensures its mission thrives,” said Karl Anderson, SoAR President. “We look forward to CAST’s continued efforts in advancing food security and innovation.”

This collaboration will amplify agricultural research efforts, providing farmers with the tools needed to overcome global challenges and ensure a sustainable future.
