ASA and Vylor Expand Farmer Leadership Training

ASA and Vylor Expand Farmer Leadership Training

By Jamie Martin

The American Soybean Association is entering a new phase for its well-known leadership development initiative through a partnership with Vylor.

The organization recently announced that Vylor will become the official sponsor of its Young Leader Program, a nationally recognized effort focused on preparing soybean farmers and future agricultural advocates for leadership roles within the industry.

Now known as the ASA Vylor Young Leader Program, the initiative continues with a tradition that spans more than four decades. The program has earned a reputation for helping participants develop leadership, communication, and professional skills while gaining a deeper understanding of agricultural issues.

The program is designed to help soybean producers and aspiring leaders strengthen their ability to represent agriculture at local, state, and national levels. Participants receive training that supports personal growth while providing practical knowledge about the challenges and opportunities facing modern farming.

Agricultural organizations increasingly recognize that leadership development is essential to the long-term success of the industry. As farming becomes more complex, producers are expected to communicate with consumers, engage with policymakers, and adapt to changing business conditions.

The Young Leader Program addresses these needs by offering educational experiences that build confidence, improve communication skills, and encourage active participation in agricultural organizations.

Throughout its history, the program has produced graduates who helped shape the future of the soybean industry. Former participants have taken on leadership positions, served on agricultural boards, and contributed to discussions involving farming policy, research, trade, and advocacy.

The partnership with Vylor represents a continued commitment to supporting farmer education and leadership development. Company representatives have emphasized the importance of investing in the next generation of agricultural leaders and ensuring farmers have access to opportunities that help them expand their influence within the industry.

Participants in the program gain more than technical knowledge. They also develop professional networks that connect with other growers and agricultural professionals from different regions of the country. These relationships often become valuable resources throughout their careers.

Networking remains one of the strongest features of the program. By bringing together individuals with diverse farming experiences, the initiative encourages collaboration and the sharing of ideas that can benefit the broader agricultural community.

The first class under the new partnership will begin its training in late 2026. Participants will take part in an initial training session in Iowa, where they will begin building leadership skills and forming connections with fellow members of the program.

Agriculture depends on strong and informed leaders who can help guide the industry through future challenges. Programs such as the ASA Vylor Young Leader Program help ensure producers are prepared to take on those responsibilities.

“The Young Leader program has prepared multiple generations of soybean farmers to become effective leaders and advocates for our industry, and we are proud to carry this legacy forward through our new partnership with ASA and the Young Leader program,” said Paul Fariss, U.S. Industry Affairs Lead with Vylor.

He added, "We have a shared commitment to supporting farmers and investing in the future of agriculture, and this program will help ensure that the next generation of leaders have the knowledge, skills and opportunities to make a lasting impact on our industry.”

As the soybean industry continues to grow and evolve, leadership development remains a priority for organizations committed to supporting farmers. The collaboration between ASA and Vylor demonstrates a shared vision of strengthening agriculture by investing in people, education, and future leadership opportunities.

Through this partnership, both organizations aim to create lasting benefits for soybean producers and the agricultural community while helping develop the leaders who will represent farming in the years ahead.
