Diesel Prices Continue Upward Trend

The price of diesel in Iowa rose $.04 this week, closing at $2.49 per gallon. The national diesel price was $2.52, up $.03.

The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $0.54 per barrel over last week, and is currently priced at $49.33.

Brent crude oil was up $.97 and is currently priced at $52.44.

One year ago WTI crude sold for $42.77 and Brent crude was at $43.37.

As of Tuesday, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.31 across Iowa according to AAA. This is up $.03 cents from last week and $.17 higher than one year ago. The national average on Tuesday was $2.36, up $.03 from last week's price.

Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa were up $.04 with a statewide average of $2.49. One year ago diesel prices averaged $2.28 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel average is $.03 lower than the national average of $2.52.

Wholesale ethanol prices were up $.05 from last week's price, currently at $1.60.

The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $1.58 for U87-E10, $1.77 for Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $1.72, ULSD#1 is at $1.90, and E-70 is priced at $1.70 per gallon.

Natural Gas prices are down $.07 at the Henry Hub reporting site and ended the week at $2.77/MMbtu.
