Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) has been recognized for his long-standing commitment to biofuels, renewable energy, and American agriculture. Growth Energy presented Grassley with its 2026 Fueling Growth Award, honoring his leadership in promoting biofuel policies and supporting family farmers and biofuel producers across the United States.
A lifelong Iowa corn and soybean farmer, Grassley has consistently advocated for policies that strengthen domestic biofuel production and create new market opportunities for agricultural producers. His efforts have focused on expanding access to E15 fuel, increasing demand for homegrown renewable fuels, and supporting the nation's rural economy.
While accepting the award, Grassley emphasized the importance of biofuels to the country's economy, environment, and energy security.
“As a lifelong Iowa corn and soybean farmer, I know firsthand how important our homegrown biofuels are for our national security, our pocketbooks and our environment. Biofuels are good, good, good. That’s why I’m continuing to fight tirelessly to get year-round, nationwide E15 over the finish line,” Grassley said. “I’m proud to be a strong voice for Iowa biofuels at the policymaking tables in Washington.”
The recognition highlights Grassley's decades of work supporting renewable fuels. One of his most significant achievements was helping establish the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) through the Energy Policy Act of 2005. The program plays a major role in promoting renewable fuel use throughout the country and strengthening markets for agricultural commodities such as corn and soybeans.
In addition to receiving the Fueling Growth Award, Grassley recently met with the National Oilseed Association and was recognized as a Champion of Agriculture for his continued support of the farming sector and renewable energy industries.
Throughout the years, Grassley has repeatedly championed year-round E15 sales. He has introduced legislation, supported bipartisan initiatives, delivered speeches on the Senate floor, and worked with federal agencies to remove restrictions on higher ethanol blends. His efforts have involved collaboration with lawmakers from both political parties to advance consumer fuel choices and increase access to renewable fuels.
Grassley has also advocated for emergency waivers and permanent regulatory changes that allow E15 sales during summer driving seasons. These actions have been aimed at benefiting farmers, fuel retailers, and consumers while helping reduce dependence on foreign energy sources.
His support for biofuels has remained consistent for more than 15 years. From welcoming the Environmental Protection Agency's first authorization of E15 use in 2010 to introducing and supporting multiple pieces of legislation designed to expand year-round E15 availability, Grassley has remained one of the leading congressional voices on renewable fuels.
Industry leaders note that increased use of ethanol blends such as E15 can create additional demand for agricultural products, provide consumers with more fuel options, and contribute to economic growth in rural communities. These benefits have made biofuels a key priority for many agricultural organizations and producer groups.
The Fueling Growth Award recognizes Grassley's continued efforts to expand renewable fuel opportunities and strengthen the agricultural economy. As discussions continue regarding energy policy and farm legislation, Grassley remains a prominent advocate for biofuels, family farmers, and rural America.
