Iowa to Host National Nutrition and Aging Resource Center
Iowa Ag Connection - 09/21/2021

The Iowa Department on Aging was chosen through a competitive award process to host the National Resource Center on Nutrition and Aging. The grant award is a cooperative agreement with the Administration for Community Living (ACL) and totals $4.9 million. The Iowa Department on Aging is also partnering with Iowa State University for research, evaluation, and subject matter experts.

The Resource Center supports the national aging network, ACL Innovation in Nutrition grantees, and other organizations by strengthening and building senior nutrition programs. Across the country, senior nutrition programs work to reduce food insecurity, hunger, and malnutrition; enhance socialization; and promote health and well-being of older adults.

"We are extremely happy after nearly a year and a half without a Resource Center to have the Iowa Department of Aging supporting ACL. They will help us in meeting the growing needs of our Network, especially during this most challenging time in the history of the Senior Nutrition Program. They will advocate for the Network to ensure its continued strength and sustainability, and support its effort to carry out the intent of the Older Americans Act," Keri Ann Lipperini, MPA, director of the Office of Nutrition and Health Promotion Programs at the Administration for Community Living.
