Iowa State University Extension’s Women in Ag Program is hosting educational courses this winter to support women in farm business management. These courses aim to enhance financial and operational decision-making in agriculture.
Course Offerings
- Annie’s Project: Farm Business Management – Teaches skills in risk management across financial, legal, human resources, marketing, and production areas. Classes start in Indianola (Feb. 4), Fort Dodge (Feb. 6), Altoona (Feb. 6), and Humeston (March 27). Cost: $100.
- Women Marketing Grain – Focuses on grain marketing strategies like forward contracts, futures contracts, and crop insurance. The next session begins in Oakland on March 3. Cost: $100.
- Managing for Today and Tomorrow: Farm Transition Planning – Helps women plan for business succession, estate, and retirement strategies. The next session starts in Oskaloosa on March 20. Cost: $100.
- Women Managing Specialty Crops – A new course covering key financial and agronomic decisions in specialty crop production, including soil management and planting strategies. The next session starts in Ames on March 18. Cost: $100.
Supporting Women in Agriculture
These courses provide a supportive learning environment, connecting women with agricultural professionals and peers. Past participants have credited the program with improving their farm business operations and decision-making skills.
Registration and Scholarships
