The 2025 Tri-State Forest Stewardship Conference will take place on March 1 at the Grand River Center in Dubuque, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The event is co-hosted by Iowa State University, University of Illinois, and University of Wisconsin-Madison Extension Services.
Expert Discussions and Keynote Address
For over 25 years, this conference has provided valuable resources for forest landowners in the Midwest. Billy Beck, an extension forestry specialist at Iowa State University, emphasizes its significance as one of the largest events of its kind in the region.
This year’s keynote speaker, Lara Noldner from the University of Iowa, will discuss cultural resource management and the protection of archaeological sites.
New and Returning Sessions
A new Basics of Forestry track is available for new landowners or those looking for a refresher. Topics include tree identification, forest management planning, and working with a forester. Additional sessions will cover invasive species, wildlife, chainsaw safety, pruning, and generational land transfers.
The conference concludes with forestry leaders from each state discussing cost-share opportunities, programs, and new initiatives for landowners.
Who Should Attend?
This event is designed for Midwest forest landowners but also welcomes forestry professionals, consultants, Master Naturalists, volunteers, and students.
