Learn from Experts How to Protect Your Crops from Drought, Smoke, and Corn Rootworm

The annual fall field day at Iowa State University’s Northeast Research and Demonstration Farm is a great opportunity for farmers to learn about the latest agricultural research and practices. This year’s event will focus on the impact of drought, smoke, and corn rootworm on crops.

Drought has been a major problem for farmers in Iowa in recent years, and it is expected to continue to be a challenge in the years to come. Smoke from wildfires in the western United States also had a significant impact on crops last year. Corn rootworm is a major pest of corn in Iowa, and it is becoming increasingly resistant to pesticides.

The presentations at the field day will provide farmers with the latest information on these topics. They will also learn about new management strategies that can help them protect their crops from drought, smoke, and corn rootworm.

In addition to the presentations, the field day will also feature a variety of other activities, including a trade show, a lunch, and a tour of the research farm. It is a great opportunity for farmers to learn from experts, network with other farmers, and get hands-on experience with new technologies.

The Northeast Iowa Field Day is free and open to the public. It will be held on August 31st, from 12:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the Borlaug Learning Center Headquarters on the ISU Northeast Research and Demonstration Farm. For more information, please visit the event website or contact Terry Basol at 641-426-6801 or Josh Michel at 563-581-7828.
