U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke L. Rollins, today unveiled a historic $152 million investment for 19 rural development projects in communities across Iowa.
This unprecedented funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) aims to strengthen Iowa’s rural economy, enhance infrastructure, and stimulate private investment in the heartland.
Secretary Rollins emphasized the importance of investing in rural America, noting, “Rural communities across America are the backbone of our nation, and President Trump is committed to investing in these communities so they continue to be productive and fulfilling places to live for generations to come.”
The investment is seen as a key part of the administration’s strategy to ensure rural prosperity, which Rollins described as a national security issue. “If our farmers and ranchers do not have the tools and resources to continue to farm, then we cannot feed ourselves,” Rollins added.
Governor Kim Reynolds of Iowa expressed her gratitude for the funding, highlighting its significance during uncertain times for the agricultural economy. “Today’s announcement is great news for all the communities receiving these grants,” said Governor Reynolds. “I look forward to building on these efforts to make our rural communities stronger and more prosperous than ever.”
The $152 million investment is designed to address vital infrastructure needs in rural Iowa, fostering growth and resilience in these communities. The funding will benefit projects that are critical for sustaining the rural economy, and the collaboration between federal, state, local governments, and the private sector is expected to drive long-term economic prosperity in Iowa’s rural areas.
