The Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach Dairy Team will continue its monthly educational webinar series on Friday, September 12, from noon to 1 p.m. CDT.
This upcoming session will focus on immigration enforcement and how it may affect livestock and dairy producers in Iowa.
Kristiana Coutu, director of the Beginning Farmer Center and counsel for the Center for Agricultural Law and Taxation at ISU, will lead the discussion. She will explain common reasons why federal immigration officials may contact agricultural employers or visit farm operations.
In addition, she will provide practical guidance to help producers understand what to expect and how to prepare for potential interactions.
Fred Hall, ISU extension dairy specialist, emphasized the importance of this session for farm operators. “Agricultural employers are increasingly concerned about immigration enforcement and have questions about how it may directly impact their farm,” Hall said. “This webinar will address situations dairy farm employers should be aware of, along with key compliance areas that every agricultural employer should understand.”
The program is designed not only for dairy producers but also for consultants, industry representatives, and anyone working in the livestock sector. The webinar aims to give participants clear insights into compliance responsibilities while reducing uncertainty around enforcement actions.
There is no cost to attend the webinar, but online registration is required. For those unable to join the live event, the session will be recorded and archived on the ISU Dairy Team Webinar Archive webpage for future viewing.
Through this series, ISU Extension continues to provide timely resources that help agricultural employers address critical issues, strengthen compliance, and support successful farm operations.
