Longtime Iowa farmer and biofuels advocate Bill Couser has been honored with the 2025 Kleckner Global Farm Leader Award, presented by the Global Farmer Network®. This award recognizes individuals who make a global impact through innovation, leadership, and a spirit of service in agriculture.
Couser is widely known for his dedication to improving agriculture not only in his home state of Iowa but also around the world. As a fourth-generation farmer, he operates a successful row crop and cattle operation while continuously supporting sustainable farming practices and renewable energy.
He is also the co-founder of Lincolnway Energy, a company that plays a vital role in advancing the biofuels sector.
Beyond his business achievements, Couser is celebrated for his generosity and mentorship. He regularly hosts farmers from across the globe at his farm, exchanging ideas and experiences to help grow farming communities worldwide.
One of his most notable gestures was sending a single-row planter to Nigeria, helping a farmer increase productivity and build a sustainable operation.
“Bill shows what it means to be a lifelong learner and servant-leader in agriculture,” said Reg Clause, Chairman of the Global Farmer Network® Board. “He’s always the first to ask, ‘How can I help?’—and he means it.”
The Kleckner Award honors farmers who demonstrate exceptional leadership and a commitment to building stronger agricultural communities. Couser's career stands out for blending hard work, humility, and a global perspective that empowers others.
His recognition highlights the role of farmers as global changemakers and reinforces the importance of collaboration in agriculture. Through this award, Bill Couser continues to inspire a new generation of agricultural leaders both at home and abroad.
