Iowa State University’s Curtiss Farm will host the 2025 Weed Science Field Day on July 2, offering crop producers and advisors a detailed look into modern weed control strategies.
Organized by ISU Extension and Outreach’s Weed Science program, the event will focus on herbicide effectiveness, new technologies, and integrated weed management in corn and soybeans.
Wesley Everman, extension weed specialist, shared that the event provides a valuable learning experience. “Participants will explore herbicide programs, tank mixes, and application timing while learning about concerns and solutions for 2025,” he said.
The field day includes field plot tours, live demonstrations, and discussions led by weed science experts and graduate students. The program will showcase both traditional and overlapping residual herbicide strategies, giving attendees hands-on insights into their effectiveness.
This year, Everman’s program will evaluate 60-70 herbicide trials, focusing on both new and established products for corn and soybean weed control. These trials will offer practical takeaways for anyone involved in crop production.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by tours from 9:00 a.m. to noon. A free lunch will be served at noon, and Certified Crop Adviser continuing education units (CEUs) will be offered to participants.
The event will be held at Iowa State’s Curtiss Farm, located at 2219 State Avenue, Ames. Signs will guide attendees to the plot area.
Attendance is free, but an RSVP is required by June 25. Participants should contact Meaghan Anderson at mjanders@iastate.edu or call 319-331-0058 to register.
This field day offers a unique chance for farmers and consultants to gain expert insights and stay current on weed science developments shaping the 2025 growing season.
