Iowa State Fair Honors Six Farm Families with 2023 Way We Live Award


The Iowa State Fair is set to celebrate and honor six outstanding farm families as recipients of the prestigious 2023 Way We Live Award. This esteemed recognition acknowledges the significant contributions and enduring commitment these families have demonstrated in their agricultural endeavors.

Nominations were based on their unique stories of how farming has shaped their lives, serving as a testament to their unwavering love for the profession. The Way We Live Award is a recognition of Iowa farm families who exemplify values derived from work and a love of farming.

The 2023 Way We Live Award winners are:

• Forsyth Family Farm, Charles City

• Griffieon Family Farm, Ankeny

• Solsma Family Farm, Sanborn

• Ben, Melia, Tanner and Haley Slinger, Ellsworth

• Brinegar Family Farm, Udell

• Rector Farms, Denver

These families were selected for their dedication to farming, their commitment to education, and their passion for agriculture. They are all examples of how farming can be a way of life that is both rewarding and fulfilling.

The Way We Live Award winners will be recognized at the Iowa State Fair on August 12-19, 2023. They will be featured on the Anne and Bill Riley Stage and will receive a prize package that includes $250, complimentary admission tickets, free parking, various coupons, and recognition on the Anne and Bill Riley Stage.
