Iowa Learning Farms, in partnership with Conservation Learning Group and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, will host Forestry on Tap on February 20 at West Hill Brewing Co. in Indianola, Iowa.
The event will run from 6 to 7 p.m., with complimentary food available starting at 5:30 p.m. Beverages will be available for purchase.
The event aims to engage farmers, landowners, and urban residents in discussions about conservation practices, water quality, soil health, and the challenges posed by climate change and weather variability.
The event will offer an open environment for attendees to ask questions, share concerns, and connect with experts.
Unlike traditional presentations, Forestry on Tap will be an informal gathering with no set agenda. Participants can freely discuss topics important to their communities.
Liz Ripley, an Iowa Learning Farms outreach specialist, emphasized that the event is designed to build community connections and provide a platform for open dialogue.
Experts from Iowa State University will be present, including Billy Beck, ISU forestry specialist, and Michelle Soupir, professor of agricultural and biosystems engineering. A team member from West Hill Brewing Co. will highlight the role of water quality in brewing.
Supported by a USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture grant, the event is free to attend, but RSVPs are required by February 14. Attendees can register by calling 515-294-5429 or emailing ilf@iastate.edu.
