I-29 Moo University Webinar to Discuss Beef and Dairy Outlook

By Andi Anderson

The I-29 Moo University Beef on Dairy Dialogue webinar series will host its next session on Thursday, August 28, from noon to 1 p.m. CDT. This online event is designed to give cattle producers timely market insights and practical strategies.

Derrell Peel, the Charles Breedlove professor of agribusiness at Oklahoma State University, will lead the presentation. Peel will address current cattle supply and demand fundamentals, dairy calf market expectations, and price outlooks for 2025 and beyond. His analysis will also cover cattle inventories and how these trends may impact both beef and dairy operations.

Fred Hall, extension dairy specialist at Iowa State University, emphasized the session’s relevance for both dairy and beef producers. “This presentation will include interactions between beef and dairy sectors in the broader beef market. All producers are invited to attend,” he said.

Peel has served as Oklahoma State’s extension livestock marketing specialist since 1989. His expertise spans livestock market outlooks, as well as marketing and risk management education for livestock producers.

The webinar is free to attend, but participants must register online at least one hour before the event begins. Early registration ensures timely access to the meeting link and materials.

For additional details, interested producers can reach out to Fred Hall in Iowa at 712-737-4230, Jim Salfer in Minnesota at 320-203-6093, or Madison Kovarna in South Dakota at 605-688-4116.

This event offers an opportunity for producers to better understand the relationship between dairy and beef sectors and apply market information to their herd rebuilding and business planning efforts.
