The Applied Reproductive Strategies in Beef Cattle (ARSBC) meeting will return to Iowa in 2026, providing beef producers and industry professionals with valuable information on reproductive management and breeding technologies.
The nationally recognized event will take place on November 10 and 11 at the Holiday Inn Des Moines Airport Conference Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Organized by the Beef Reproduction Task Force and hosted by the Iowa Beef Center at Iowa State University, the conference aims to help cattle producers improve reproductive performance and herd productivity through science-based management practices.
Garland Dahlke, Research Scientist with the Iowa Beef Center and a member of the Beef Reproduction Task Force, highlighted the importance of delivering practical information to cattle producers.
According to Dahlke, “We consistently hear from producers looking for scientifically sound practices to reach their breeding goals. The goal of this task force and the ARSBC meeting is to get producers the information and tools they need to get more females bred to the ideal sire at the right time.”
Iowa continues to be an important location for the event because of its large cattle population and strong beef industry presence. The meeting was previously held in Iowa in 2016 and attracted participants from many states across the country.
The conference program was developed through collaboration between the Beef Reproduction Task Force and the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach beef team. Randie Culbertson, Extension Cow-Calf Specialist at Iowa State University, emphasized the broad value of the event for cattle industry professionals.
She stated, “We wanted to make this conference applicable to everyone working in cattle reproduction across the region and successfully incorporated timely topics from excellent speakers.”
Attendees can expect a wide range of educational sessions focused on improving reproductive success and overall herd performance. Topics will include estrus synchronization, embryo transfer, sexed semen, natural service herd sire management, and strategies for breeding more efficient cows.
These sessions are designed to provide practical solutions that producers can apply to their own operations.
The conference schedule includes activities from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on November 10 and from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on November 11. Early registration is available through September 15 for $200. Registration fees increase to $250 after that date and rise to $300 for late registrations from October 26 through November 11.
Students are eligible for a $50 registration discount and can obtain details through event organizers. The program has also been submitted for continuing education approval, offering additional value to industry professionals seeking professional development opportunities.
Through expert presentations and industry-focused discussions, the ARSBC meeting aims to provide cattle producers with the latest knowledge and tools needed to enhance breeding programs, improve herd efficiency, and support long-term success in the beef industry.
