Crude Oil Prices Trend Higher

The price of West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose $3.61, currently $66.75 per barrel. Brent crude oil rose $4.15, currently $71.92 per barrel.

The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $3.61 per barrel over last week, and is currently priced at $66.75.

Brent crude oil rose $4.15 and is currently priced at $71.92.

One year ago WTI crude sold for $53.40 and Brent crude was at $54.73.

As of Tuesday, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.52 across Iowa according to AAA. This is down $.02 from last week and $.17 higher than one year ago. The national average on Tuesday was $2.66, holding steady at last week's price.

Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa held steady at last week's price with a statewide average of $2.93. One year ago diesel prices averaged $2.48 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel price is $.04 less than the national average of $2.97.

Wholesale ethanol prices were $.08 higher than last week's price, currently at $1.49.

The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $1.91 for U87-E10, $2.12 for Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $2.13, ULSD#1 is at $2.30, and E-70 is priced at $1.65 per gallon.

Natural Gas prices were down a penny at the Henry Hub reporting site and ended the week at $2.69/MMbtu.

Continuing throughout the summer months, retail heating oil and propane prices in Iowa will be reported only once a month.
