Hanson Earns Influencer Award from Iowa Young Children Educators
Iowa Ag Connection - 10/14/2021

Nicole Hanson, Iowa 4-H Clover Kids specialist, has received the 2021 Influencer award from the Iowa Association for the Education of Young Children.

Hanson was recognized for her outstanding support and advocacy to improve the quality of care and education for young children. The award was announced during the 2021 Early Learning Virtual Fall Institute.

"It is a well-deserved honor for all of her work to advance early childhood education in her role with 4-H," said Tillie Bell Good, Iowa 4-H staff and volunteer development manager for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

Prior to joining the Iowa 4-H program in 2015, Hanson coordinated before and after school programs in central Iowa for over 10 years. She has retained ties in both early care and education as well as afterschool. Hanson is an Iowa Afterschool Alliance Board Member and a core member of the ISU Extension and Outreach Child Care Initiative Team.

Hanson also is a proud mother to a 4-year-old who attends a rural Iowa child care program. Like many early childhood centers in Iowa, this program has struggled with funding, staffing and sustainability concerns during the past two years. Because of her previous work history, she fully understands the complexity of these issues and is passionate about finding solutions to ensure high-quality, affordable child care is accessible to all Iowans.

"I am honored to receive the Iowa AEYC Influencer award," said Hanson. "I continue to be inspired by the amazing early childhood professionals and advocates working tirelessly to advance the quality of care and education of young children."
