The Iowa Farmers Union will hold a "Lunch & Learn" event Sept. 29 from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Center with Theresa Greenfield, Iowa director for USDA's Rural Development office.
USDA Rural Development supports rural prosperity in Iowa by investing in modern infrastructure such as high-speed internet and water and waste treatment systems. It helps eligible rural Iowans buy or rent affordable housing, and can partner to build or improve essential community facilities such as hospitals, libraries, and schools. It boosts rural economic development by funding technical assistance for small business owners and entrepreneurs, helping them design robust business plans, find new markets, and promote their goods and services. It also helps eligible businesses and manufacturers expand or improve, and support energy programs that finance renewable systems for agriculture and industry.
Greenfield is a committed public servant with a career focused on community development, housing, and real estate. She grew up on a small family farm outside the small town of Bricelyn, Minn. She will join the virtual program to share what the USDA Rural Development Office in Iowa is working on these days.
