Kossuth County was the highest–ranking county for corn for grain production with 57.1 million bushels produced. Pottawattamie, Crawford, Franklin, Clinton, and Benton were the next highest producing counties, each with over 40 million bushels produced.
Delaware led all counties with an average yield of 230.8 bushels per acre. Clinton (225.2), Dubuque (223.7), Benton (221.7), and Cedar (221.4) Counties rounded out the top five. Twenty counties exceeded the 215 bushel mark in 2022.
In 2022, Sioux County led all Iowa counties in total corn silage production with 1,110,000 tons, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Lyon (494,000), Winneshiek (336,000), Allamakee (322,000), and O'Brien (292,000) rounded out the top five highest–producing counties.
Clayton County had the highest yield with an average of 26.5 tons per acre harvested. Benton County had the second–highest yield at 25.5 tons per acre, followed by Muscatine at 25 tons per acre.
