The Iowa Pork Industry Center (IPIC) is reminding interested individuals to submit their applications soon for the upcoming Pork Quality Assurance (PQA) Advisor certification session. The virtual session, organized by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, will be held on Tuesday, July 18. The application deadline for this session is Tuesday, July 11.
Dr. Chris Rademacher, a swine veterinarian and the organizer of the session, stated that the training and exam will take approximately six hours to complete. Individuals whose certification has expired or who are first-time advisors are required to attend this in-person or virtual training.
To apply, applicants must meet the qualification requirements listed on the two-page application form available on the IPIC website. The application form can be filled electronically as a PDF or Word document.
Once the application is approved and payment is accepted by IPIC, applicants will receive confirmation of their spot in the session. The registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. Central time on July 18, with the session commencing at 9 a.m. Approved applicants will receive connection information closer to the session date.
One more session is scheduled for 2023 on October 2, and applications for that session can be submitted at any time prior to the session date. The IPIC's PQA webpage provides access to the application forms. Each session is approved for five hours of continuing education (CE) credit by the Iowa Board of Veterinary Medicine.
Don't miss the opportunity to become a certified Pork Quality Assurance Advisor. Submit your application by the July 11 deadline for the July 18 virtual session.
