The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach team will be hosting a Meat Processor Business Lifecycle Workshop on Nov. 7, offering vital business strategies for small meat processors.
The workshop will take place at Iowa State’s Hansen Agriculture Student Learning Center in Ames and will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Designed to help business owners and managers in the local meat processing industry, the workshop will cover key considerations for business transitions, whether owners are looking to expand or planning to retire.
With small-scale meat processing businesses playing a critical role in serving local markets and farmers, the workshop aims to equip participants with the tools to navigate federal, state, and local regulations.
Owners will gain insights into making informed decisions when purchasing existing plants, building new facilities, or handling business transitions and tax implications.
With the demand for locally raised meats on the rise, new business owners must be well-prepared to meet market needs.
This workshop will offer strategies to ensure long-term success and smooth ownership transitions, with a focus on addressing the specific challenges faced by smaller meat processors.
Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m., with a light breakfast and lunch provided. Registration is $25 if completed by Oct. 27 and $35 afterward, with a final deadline of Nov. 6.
Whether you're a new owner or looking to grow your meat processing business, this workshop provides essential knowledge to help your operation thrive in a competitive market.
