Iowa Growers Unite for 2026 Ag Insights

The Southeast Iowa Agricultural Research Association will hold its annual meeting on Thursday, March 5 at the Southeast Research and Demonstration Farm located near Crawfordsville.

The association works in partnership with Iowa State University to manage and support the research farm.

The meeting will feature presentations from Iowa State University specialists covering timely agricultural topics. Alison Robertson professor and extension crop plant pathologist will discuss the future of crop disease management and emerging challenges facing producers.

Erin Hodgson professor and extension entomologist will present on rootworm management and outline sustainable approaches to managing one of agriculture’s most costly pests. Karl Kerns, assistant professor of animal science, will explain artificial intelligence in agriculture including what it is how it works and what Iowa State University is researching.

In addition to these presentations, a local research farm update will be shared by Cody Schneider farm superintendent. Attendees will also hear campus updates from Tim Goode research farms manager and Kendall Lamkey associate dean for facilities and operations for Iowa State research farms. These updates will provide insight into ongoing research efforts and future plans.

Registration and refreshments will begin at 9:30 a m with the meeting starting at 10 a m and concluding at 3 p m. Lunch will be served during the meeting. Lunch is free for association members and available for ten dollars for non-members.

Those interested in joining or renewing membership with the association may do so for a fee of twenty-five dollars. Membership lasts five years.

Payments can be mailed to the ISU Extension and Outreach Johnson County office in Iowa City or paid in person at the meeting.

While registration is not required, attendees are encouraged to pre-register by March 2 either online or by phone to help organizers plan for lunch. The meeting is supported by local sponsors. Certified Crop Advisors attending the meeting may earn Continuing Education Units.
