The Iowa Forage and Grassland Council (IFGC) annual conference is scheduled for February 3, 2025, at Reiman Gardens, Ames. This year’s conference will address strategies for improving forage productivity and exploring alternative options to meet production goals, especially after recent drought conditions across Iowa.
The event starts with registration at 9:30 a.m., followed by a welcome and introductions at 10 a.m. The morning session includes two expert presentations, with lunch and the IFGC annual meeting at 12:45 p.m. Afternoon sessions will run from 1:15 to 3 p.m., featuring engaging talks on key topics.
This year’s conference includes:
The Right Alfalfa for Your Farm by Scott Newell, University of Wisconsin.
Iowa Forage Research Update by Shelby Gruss, Iowa State University.
Market Outlook for Forage and Beef Cattle by Christopher Pudenz, Iowa Farm Bureau.
Considerations for Forage Weed Management Decisions by Wesley Everman, Iowa State University.
The conference will also feature a tradeshow, offering producers and industry stakeholders opportunities to network, showcase products, and build brand awareness. Current IFGC members can host a booth free of charge. Interested participants can contact Erika Lundy-Woolfolk at ellundy@iastate.edu.
The event is open to all. Public attendees pay $45, while IFGC members pay $30. Membership dues can be paid during online registration, and preregistration is encouraged to ensure an adequate meal count.
The Iowa Forage and Grassland Council, led by a diverse board, supports forage-focused initiatives to advance production statewide. The conference is an excellent platform for learning, networking, and collaboration among individuals with a vested interest in Iowa’s forage industry.
