Iowa Ag Week kicks off with celebrations across the state as corn farmers highlight the impact of agriculture on Iowa’s economy, communities, and daily life. This annual event shines a light on the dedication and achievements of Iowa’s farm families.
Iowa grows more than 2.5 billion bushels of corn each year, adding over $16 billion to the state’s economy. With more than 86,900 farms in Iowa—97% of them family-owned—agriculture remains at the heart of the state. Iowa Corn continues to invest in research, education, and market development to find new uses for Iowa-grown corn.
“Iowa doesn’t just grow corn—corn grows Iowa,” says Stu Swanson, President of the Iowa Corn Growers Association and a farmer from Galt, Iowa. He explains that corn supports livestock, renewable fuel, and thousands of everyday products. Corn-fed meat and dairy products, along with ethanol fuel, all help add value to every kernel grown.
Iowa leads the nation in corn production for feed, fiber, and ethanol. The by-products from ethanol production, such as high-protein livestock feed, further support the industry and farmers alike.
Iowa Corn invites everyone to celebrate Ag Week by:
- Fueling vehicles with Unleaded 88 ethanol
- Buying corn-fed pork, beef, poultry, and dairy
- Supporting local 4-H and FFA chapters
- Following Iowa Corn on social media
- Thanking those involved in agriculture
Farmers and agricultural workers are leaders, stewards of the land, and innovators in technology. Iowa Ag Week is a time to thank them and appreciate how their efforts help feed and fuel the world.
