Iowa Farm Bureau Awards $230,000 in College Scholarships to Support Future Agricultural Leaders

The Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF) recently awarded $230,000 in college scholarships to 116 students from across Iowa who are continuing their educational pursuits in agriculture or related fields. The scholarships aim to support future agricultural leaders by recognizing their academic achievements, extracurricular involvement, and commitment to rural Iowa.

IFBF Community Resources Manager Ronnette Vondrak highlighted the importance of agriculture in Iowa, with one in five jobs in the state tied to this dynamic industry. The organization is proud to support the next generation of agricultural innovators and leaders through these scholarships, which offer a total of $250,000 for the upcoming school year.

Among the recipients are Argyle, Everlee Harvey, Leonard and Tonya Harvey, who are attending Iowa State University, and Cedar Rapids’ Lindsey Hospodarsky, who is also pursuing her education at Iowa State. Other scholarship recipients include Alexis Steffens from Clermont, who is attending Iowa State, and Maggie Vaske from Bancroft, who is studying at Buena Vista University.

Eligibility for the scholarships is based on academic performance, financial need, community and extracurricular involvement, and letters of recommendation, as well as Farm Bureau membership. Scholarships are renewable for up to four years for students who maintain a minimum 2.5 grade-point average and good standing with the organization.

The Iowa Farm Bureau Federation is the largest statewide grassroots farm organization in Iowa, celebrating 100 years of creating a vibrant future for agriculture, farm families, and their communities.
