Insure your harvest - webinar insights

Insure your harvest - webinar insights

By Andi Anderson

Farmers considering relay intercropping or double cropping can learn more about crop insurance options in a free webinar June 26.

Backer, with 16 years in the crop insurance industry and involvement in National Crop Insurance Services (NCIS) committees, will lead the webinar titled "How Crop Insurance Ties into Relay and Double Cropping Practices."

In the webinar, Backer will provide an overview of federal crop insurance, explaining its importance for farmers.

She will discuss the details of crop insurance in Iowa, highlight key dates and deadlines, and address common concerns of farmers practicing newer farming systems like double cropping and relay intercropping.

“Crop insurance programs continue to evolve, and the availability of insurance for double and relay cropping practices is expanding in Iowa,” said Backer.

“It is important for farmers to fully understand the rules of these newer coverage offerings as well as how they can benefit from this type of insurance coverage. I hope that participants in this webinar walk away with the knowledge to have a meaningful conversation with their crop insurance agent about whether it could be beneficial for them to insure their double or relay crops.”

Participants are encouraged to ask questions during the webinar. People from all backgrounds and areas of interest are welcome to join.
