Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is organizing an informative evening crop walk on Tuesday, July 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. near Gilmore City.
The event, led by Angie Rieck-Hinz, extension field agronomist, aims to equip farmers with essential mid-season crop scouting knowledge and effective management practices.
During the crop walk, participants will delve into the basics of mid-season scouting. Discussions will cover current field conditions, insect and crop disease identification, and practical management strategies.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own crop samples for personalized evaluation, allowing them to receive expert advice tailored to their specific concerns.
The event location is 811 SE D Ave., Gilmore City, where supper will be provided. To ensure sufficient food, advance registration is recommended.
Attendees are advised to bring their own lawn chairs for comfort during the informative sessions. Safety-wise, long pants and closed-toe shoes are recommended.
This crop walk offers a valuable opportunity for farmers to gain insights into current crop conditions, effective pest and disease management, and weed control strategies. Certified Crop Adviser credits will be available for participants.
