Farmers Invited to Join Winter Webinar Series 2025

By Andi Anderson

Practical Farmers of Iowa (PFI) is hosting its 2025 Winter Webinar Series, inviting farmers and landowners to participate in 13 free webinars from January 21 to April 15. This online series is designed for both new and experienced farmers, covering topics in row crops, livestock, horticulture, and land management.

“Winter webinars help farmers stay connected, share experiences, and learn practical skills during the off-season,” said Vanya North, PFI’s habitat education coordinator. Each webinar is hosted by a farmer or expert, offering actionable insights and real-time Q&A opportunities.

The webinars will be held on Tuesdays, from noon to 1 p.m. Central Time. Topics include biodiversity, cover crops, nitrogen management, fair lease agreements, and more. Highlights include:

  • January 21: Using CRP to Foster Biodiversity on a Farm
  • March 11: Optimal Nitrogen Fertilizer Rates for Corn
  • April 8: Getting Going with Grazing
  • April 15: Land Access Tips for New Farmers (Spanish session)

Farmers can register at practicalfarmers.org/winter-webinars. Registration is simple, and links to join each session are sent via email. The website also offers a full schedule and archived recordings of past webinars.

Supported by grants and partnerships with organizations like USDA and CleanwaterIowa.org, the series emphasizes sustainability and innovative farming practices. Sponsors include the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, and more.

This winter, seize the chance to enhance your farming knowledge and connect with the farming community from the comfort of your home. Join the Practical Farmers of Iowa webinars and take steps toward improving your farm operations.
