Fall Into Gardening Workshop Grows Seasonal Skills

Fall Into Gardening Workshop Grows Seasonal Skills

By Andi Anderson

Gardeners of all skill levels are invited to expand their knowledge at the Fall Into Gardening workshop, a seasonal event designed to help participants learn practical techniques for year-round gardening success.

Scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the workshop will be held at Water's Edge Nature Center, 1010 250th Street, Algona, Iowa.

Organized with both beginning and experienced gardeners in mind, the workshop will provide easy-to-apply methods for keeping gardens healthy through every season.

Participants can expect to learn how to prepare soil for winter, select plants that thrive in cooler temperatures, and plan ahead for spring growth. By focusing on sustainable practices, the session will help gardeners maintain vibrant flower beds and productive vegetable patches throughout the year.

The event will be led by Meredith Nelson, who brings a wealth of local gardening knowledge and experience. Attendees will gain valuable insights into regional planting schedules, pest control strategies, and techniques to protect plants from unpredictable Midwest weather.

Nelson will also share tips on composting, mulching, and extending the growing season using simple tools and natural materials.

This workshop is designed to be interactive, encouraging questions and discussion so that participants leave with practical skills they can immediately apply in their own gardens.

Whether you are starting a new garden or looking to refine your current methods, the program offers ideas to improve soil health, manage water efficiently, and keep plants flourishing.

To learn more about the program or to register, interested gardeners can contact Meredith Nelson at (515) 295-2469. With its welcoming atmosphere and expert guidance, Fall Into Gardening promises to inspire and educate anyone eager to make the most of their garden year after year.

This event provides a perfect opportunity to meet fellow gardening enthusiasts, exchange ideas, and prepare your outdoor spaces for the seasons ahead.
