Bonnie Williams has been appointed as the regional director for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, overseeing programs in Pocahontas, Humboldt, Webster, and Hamilton counties. She will officially begin her new role on January 13, 2025.
As regional director, Williams will lead county extension staff and provide guidance to extension councils, ensuring effective program delivery and community engagement. Her extensive experience in leadership and program management is expected to enhance the impact of the extension services in these counties.
Williams is currently the educational design and development manager for Iowa 4-H Youth Development. Previously, she served as the executive director for ISU Extension and Outreach in Clay County, where she managed budgets, ensured compliance with policies, and coordinated impactful educational events.
Her ability to build partnerships and expand program reach has been a hallmark of her career.
Andrea Welchans, assistant vice president for extension and outreach, expressed confidence in Williams’s abilities, stating, “Bonnie joins us with over 15 years of experience in leadership, educational program management, and community engagement. I am confident she will contribute to the region’s impact as their new regional director.”
Williams holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake. Her appointment reinforces the mission of ISU Extension and Outreach, which is part of the federal Cooperative Extension Service. This network, involving land-grant institutions like Iowa State University and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, plays a crucial role in supporting educational programs and services in communities across the nation.
Williams’s leadership promises to strengthen the extension’s commitment to serving Iowa’s counties, advancing education, and fostering community development.
