Anheuser-Busch, in collaboration with American Farmland Trust (AFT), has introduced the U.S. Farmed certification, a new initiative aimed at strengthening the American agricultural sector. This certification will appear first on Anheuser-Busch's popular beer brands such as Busch Light, and later Budweiser and Bud Light.
The U.S. Farmed seal guarantees that at least 95% of the agricultural ingredients in these products are sourced from farms within the United States. This initiative not only helps consumers identify and choose products that support local farmers but also contributes to sustaining the national agricultural economy. The program is especially beneficial for Kansas, where Anheuser-Busch has been a significant buyer of local corn, spending over $2.5 million annually.
The certification is part of a broader effort to preserve American farmland, especially as the current generation of farmers nears retirement. AFT uses the funds from these certifications to provide U.S. farmers with essential resources and advisory services. These services include succession planning and farmland protection strategies, ensuring that farms continue to operate and remain productive for future generations.
The "Choose Beer Grown Here" campaign led by Anheuser-Busch is set to promote this certification. This initiative marks a significant step in the brewer's longstanding commitment to the U.S. agriculture, aligning with its mission to source high-quality ingredients from domestic farms.
Beth Sauerhaft, AFT Acting President and CEO, highlights that this bold move supports American farmers in maintaining their livelihoods and protecting the lands that sustain the nation. The U.S. Farmed certification is a crucial development in safeguarding the future of U.S. agriculture and supporting the economic backbone of rural communities across America.
