Iowa students invited to enter choose Iowa calendar contest

By Andi Anderson

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, Mike Naig, extends a warm invitation to school-aged students across Iowa to showcase their artistic talents in the 2024 Choose Iowa Calendar Contest. Organized by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, this contest aims to celebrate Iowa's agricultural heritage under the Choose Iowa brand.

Artists are encouraged to create artwork featuring aspects of Iowa agriculture, with a focus on food, livestock, or crop production. Entries will be judged based on creativity and the portrayal of agriculture in everyday life. The deadline for submissions is June 3, 2024, and winners will be announced at the prestigious 2024 Iowa State Fair.

Secretary Naig expresses enthusiasm for the contest, emphasizing its role in highlighting the significance of Iowa agriculture to consumers and recognizing the creativity of Iowa's young artists. Winning submissions will not only be honored at a special awards ceremony during the Iowa State Fair but will also be featured in the 2024/2025 Choose Iowa calendar distributed statewide and online.

Participation is open to all school-aged Iowa students up to 18 years old. Artwork should be drawn on plain white, 8.5 by 11-inch paper in a horizontal orientation, using only black lines without color. Students and teachers can find creative inspiration from past calendars available for viewing on the Choose Iowa website.

Entries can be submitted online, via email, or by mail along with a registration sheet containing basic information about the artist. To ensure eligibility, submissions must be received by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship by June 3, 2024.

Don't miss this opportunity to showcase your creativity and celebrate Iowa agriculture. Join the Choose Iowa Calendar Contest today!
