Governor Kim Reynolds is set to lead a trade mission to India in September 2024, aiming to bolster Iowa's economic relationship with one of the world's fastest-growing economies. This mission, scheduled from September 13-22, 2024, will see Governor Reynolds accompanied by Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig and a delegation of agricultural and business leaders.
India's remarkable economic growth and expansive consumer market present a prime opportunity for Iowa to showcase itself as an investment destination for Indian companies, particularly in sectors like advanced manufacturing, biotechnology, finance, and insurance. Additionally, the trade mission aims to strengthen Iowa's position as a key trade partner for agricultural exports.
Organized by the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) with support from the U.S. Department of Commerce's Commercial Service, the trade mission will entail meetings with business and government officials in Mumbai and New Delhi. Iowa companies will engage in tailored meetings to address their specific market entry or expansion needs.
Secretary Naig highlights the significant potential for Iowa in India's growing demand for ethanol and livestock feed, as well as recent openings for Iowa pork exports. This mission seeks to reinforce existing partnerships and cultivate new ones, creating larger and more diverse markets for Iowa products.
IEDA facilitates foreign direct investment in Iowa, provides export assistance for small and mid-sized companies, and coordinates international trade missions and opportunities for Iowa businesses. Organizations interested in joining the trade mission can reach out to IEDA at india2024@iowaeda.com.
Governor Reynolds's leadership underscores Iowa's commitment to fostering global economic partnerships and expanding opportunities for businesses in the state. This trade mission to India represents a strategic step towards strengthening ties and promoting Iowa's exports on the global stage.
