Natural Gas Prices Increase

The price of natural gas rose $.28 this week, closing at $3.52/MMbtu.

The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $4.39 per barrel over last week, and is currently priced at $61.94.

Brent crude oil fell $3.63 and is currently priced at $72.21.

One year ago WTI crude sold for $57.20 and Brent crude was at $64.36.

As of Tuesday, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.62 across Iowa according to AAA. This is $.06 lower than last week and $.12 higher than one year ago. The national average on Tuesday was $2.75, down $.05 from last week's price.

Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa were $.02 lower than last week's price with a statewide average of $3.24. One year ago diesel prices averaged $2.77 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel price is $.03 less than the national average of $3.27.

Wholesale ethanol prices were $.01 lower than last week's price, currently at $1.27.

The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $1.74 for U87-E10, $1.95 for Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $2.28, ULSD#1 is at $2.54, and E-70 is priced at $1.53 per gallon.

Propane prices were a penny lower than last week for a statewide average of $1.35 per gallon. Home heating oil was down $.06 from last week's figures, ending with a statewide average of $2.71. Natural Gas prices rose $.28 at the Henry Hub reporting site and ended the week at $3.52/MMbtu.
