USDA Redirects $148 Million From DEI to Support Farmers

USDA Redirects $148 Million From DEI to Support Farmers

By Jamie Martin

In a major move to prioritize U.S. agriculture, Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will terminate more than 145 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs.

This decision, which will save up to $148.6 million, redirects funds to support American farmers and strengthen agricultural initiatives.

Secretary Rollins explained that these cuts were necessary to put an end to the wasteful spending that had shifted resources away from agricultural needs. “Putting American Farmers First means cutting the millions of dollars that are being wasted on woke DEI propaganda. Under President leadership, I am putting an end to the waste, fraud, and abuse that has diverted resources from American farmers and restoring sanity and fiscal stewardship to the U.S. Department of Agriculture,” said Rollins.

The funding cuts affect several programs, including -

  • $575,251 for educating and supporting socially disadvantaged farmers on conservation efforts.
  • $192,246 allocated to urban forestry projects aimed at achieving environmental justice through better distribution of green spaces.
  • $2,500,000 intended to increase equitable access to land, capital, and market opportunities for underserved farmers in the Bay Area.

This strategic reallocation of funds is part of the USDA's broader commitment to improving fiscal accountability and ensuring that resources directly benefit U.S. farmers and agriculture.
