The SowBridge classes are back for folks who love pigs and farming. These cool classes start in February, and you can sign up online using Zoom. Or if you like, you can just call in to join the sessions.
Sherry Hoyer, from the Iowa Pork Industry Center, says these classes are made just for you. They'll talk about things you want to learn about pigs and farms. And guess what? You get to talk to the teachers during the classes too!
The classes usually happen on the first Wednesday of each month, starting at 11:15 a.m. Central Time and finishing around 12:15 p.m. But a couple of sessions are different this time. One's on May 29 because of a cool pig show, and the last one is on Jan. 8, 2025, which is a Tuesday.
In these classes, you can ask questions and learn stuff about pigs while sitting at home or anywhere else. When you sign up, you get a Zoom link for each class and all the things you need to learn from the teachers.
The first sign-up costs $200, but after that, it's cheaper if more people from the same group join in.
You need to sign up by Jan. 20 to make sure you don't miss the first class on Feb. 7. To find out more and sign up, just go to the IPIC website.
These classes will cover lots of topics about taking care of pigs and farms. They'll talk about things like making sure pigs are healthy and how to feed them right.
If you want more details or want to sign up, just call Sherry Hoyer at 515-294-4496 or email her at shoyer@iastate.edu.
These classes are put together by lots of colleges and schools who know a bunch about pigs and farms.
