Senator Joni Ernst is fighting to reduce bureaucratic barriers and increase trade for Iowa farmers. She is concerned about the unfair trade barriers that Iowa farmers face, such as Mexico's GM corn ban, and she believes that the U.S. government should be doing more to enforce existing trade agreements and safeguard fair markets for Iowa farmers' products.
To this end, Senator Ernst is leading a new effort to improve the proactive enforcement of U.S. agreements at the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Her Prioritizing Offensive Agricultural Disputes and Enforcement Act would create a joint task force between USTR and USDA, removing bureaucratic barriers that prevent proper communication between the two agencies and limit our country's ability to prevent and respond to broken trade agreements.
Senator Ernst is also working to address other trade issues that impact Iowans, such as Mexico's plan to end U.S. genetically modified corn imports. She believes that Iowa farmers deserve to know that the U.S. government is doing everything it can to protect their interests and ensure that they have a fair chance to compete in the global marketplace.
Senator Ernst is a strong advocate for Iowa farmers and is working to reduce the bureaucratic barriers and trade barriers that they face. Her efforts are helping to ensure that Iowa farmers have a fair chance to compete in the global marketplace and that they are able to continue to produce high-quality agricultural products for the world.
