Regenerative Agriculture and Tariffs Discussion Set for March 19 at ISU

The annual meeting of the Northeast Iowa Agricultural Experimental Association (NEIAEA) is set for March 19 at the Borlaug Learning Center, Iowa State University Northeast Research Farm in Nashua. The event will feature expert discussions on trade impacts, nitrogen application, and regenerative farming.

The program begins at 9:30 a.m. with a board meeting, followed by a session at 10 a.m. with Chad Hart, an extension crop marketing specialist, discussing "Tariffs, Trade and the Economy."

At 11 a.m., Melissa Miller, project director of the Iowa Nitrogen Initiative, and Lauren Schwarck from the ISU Department of Agronomy will present findings on nitrogen application and introduce the N-FACT decision support system.

During lunch, Ken Pecinovsky, farm superintendent, will share research trial results from 2024 and discuss future projects. The event will conclude with a 1 p.m. session by Kelly Garrett, co-founder of XtremeAg, on regenerative farming and soil health benefits.

The meeting is free and open to the public. Lunch is sponsored by Corteva, and attendees can earn four free CCA credits (3 CM, 1 NM). The event will be held at the Borlaug Learning Center, ISU Northeast Research Farm, with clear directions provided for attendees. For more details, contact Terry Basol at 641-426-6801.
