A final chance to complete the required training for the Private Pesticide Applicator Continuing Instruction Course will be available this spring. The session, known as the “Last Chance” training opportunity, provides private pesticide applicators one more occasion to renew their certification for the 2026 season.
This event ensures that individuals who apply pesticides on their farms can meet state requirements for safe handling and responsible use.
The training will take place on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Allamakee County Extension office located at 218 7th Avenue SE, Suite 102, in Waukon, Iowa.
The session is designed for private applicators who need to complete their annual CIC requirement before the deadline. Because it is the final scheduled course for the season, participants are encouraged to attend and complete their certification on time.
The program will be led by Instructor Elizabeth Danielson, who will guide applicators through essential topics such as pesticide safety, proper application techniques, environmental protection, recordkeeping, and updated regulations.
These sessions play a key role in helping farmers and landowners use pesticides safely while protecting themselves, their crops, and the environment.
Individuals attending the course will learn about recent changes to pesticide labels, requirements for personal protective equipment, and safe storage and disposal practices.
The training also reviews how to reduce risks to pollinators, wildlife, and nearby communities. This ensures that applicators remain informed about best practices and legal responsibilities.
Anyone interested in the event may contact Lana Dahlstrom at the Allamakee County Extension office for registration information or further details. Completing this course is an important step for applicators who wish to continue using restricted-use pesticides on their farms.
This “Last Chance” CIC session offers a convenient opportunity for applicators to meet their training obligations, stay compliant with state regulations, and maintain safe and effective pesticide practices throughout the 2026 growing season. All participants are encouraged to register early and attend the session on time.
