Navigating Challenges in Iowa Agriculture

By Andi Anderson

Iowa farmers brace for a challenging year with record-high corn supplies and soaring input costs. The Iowa Farm Bureau addresses these concerns through a series of statewide meetings aimed at providing crucial insights and strategies. With sessions scheduled across key locations, farmers can gather information and strategies to navigate the complexities of the current agricultural landscape.

Meeting Schedule:

  • Wednesday, Feb. 7:

9-11:30 a.m. at Northeast Iowa Community College’s dairy center

5-7:30 p.m. at the Lee County Farm Bureau office in Donnellson

  • Tuesday, Feb. 13:

9-11:30 a.m. at the Scott County Farm Bureau office in Eldridge

2-4:30 p.m. at the Cedar County Fairgrounds in Tipton

  • Thursday, Feb. 22:

10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Moville Community Center

Iowa Farm Bureau experts Zach Brummer and Dr. Christopher Pudenz will address the impact of record-ending corn stocks, South American soy production, and updates on cattle and pork markets. Despite challenges, opportunities like moderating fertilizer prices and a promising trade partnership with Mexico for corn and pork exports are highlighted.

In addition to market insights, Iowa State University experts will cover farm stress management and cybersecurity. Register for the meetings at iowafarmbureau.com/marketoutlook

These sessions aim to empower farmers with knowledge, strategies, and a comprehensive understanding of the agricultural landscape, guiding them through uncertainties and identifying opportunities for success.
