Mogo Farms, located in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship.
The funding is part of the Choose Iowa value-added grant program, which aims to support small, young, and beginning farmers across the state.
Mogo Farms is one of 33 Iowa farms selected to receive this grant. The funds will be used to construct a new wash and packaging building that will help extend the freshness of their produce and strengthen food safety practices.
Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig highlighted the importance of this program. “Consumers increasingly want more locally grown food, beverages, and ag products, and that’s great news for Iowa farmers and small businesses,” Naig said. “These Choose Iowa value-added grants are designed to help small, young, and beginning farmers grow their businesses to meet this rising demand.”
By supporting projects like Mogo Farms’ new facility, the state is encouraging local agriculture, increasing product availability, and boosting local economies.
The wash and packaging building will help Mogo Farms meet higher food safety standards while ensuring that their produce stays fresher for longer.
These investments are not only improving farming operations but also helping connect consumers with safe, high-quality local food. The Choose Iowa program continues to make a difference for farmers looking to grow and serve their communities.
With the help of this grant, Mogo Farms is taking a big step toward improving its production process and contributing to the strength of Iowa’s local food system.
