The Agriculture Department at Keokuk High School (KHS) has been awarded an $8,000 grant through the Iowa Area Education Agencies (AEA) Regional Planning Partnership (RPP) program. The funding will be used to introduce advanced technology into the classroom, enhancing education in agricultural sciences.
“This generous funding will be used to purchase four state-of-the-art agriculture drones,” said Brady Martin, KHS Agriculture instructor and FFA advisor. “This will bring cutting-edge technology into the classroom and enhance student learning opportunities in agricultural sciences.”
The drones will help students explore a variety of real-world applications, such as precision farming, crop monitoring, livestock management, and environmental stewardship. These experiences are designed to prepare students for careers in agriculture, where technological skills are increasingly essential.
“These advanced tools will help students gain valuable skills that are increasingly in demand in today’s agricultural industry,” said Martin. “We are thrilled to receive this RPP grant and invest in technology that will provide hands-on learning experiences for our students.”
By integrating drone technology into its curriculum, KHS aims to connect classroom learning with modern industry practices, equipping students with valuable knowledge for future careers in agriculture and technology.
The RPP grant program supports educational initiatives that align with workforce development goals, encouraging innovation in teaching methods.
“The Keokuk Agriculture Department is committed to equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in modern agriculture,” said Martin. “This grant represents a significant step forward in that mission, demonstrating the school’s dedication to staying at the forefront of agricultural education.”
With this investment, Keokuk High School continues to lead the way in providing students with the tools and skills needed for thriving careers in the agricultural sector.
