The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) is set to welcome Farm Aid’s 40th Annual Music Festival on Saturday, September 20, 2025. The event marks four decades of Farm Aid’s mission to support family farmers while celebrating their essential role in American agriculture.
“Minnesota is honored to welcome Farm Aid on its milestone 40th anniversary,” said MDA Commissioner Thom Petersen. “Family farmers are the backbone of our state’s economy and culture, and Farm Aid shines a spotlight on the essential role they play in feeding our communities. We’re proud to showcase Minnesota agriculture on this national stage.”
As part of the festival, the MDA will host a dedicated tent where visitors can connect with Minnesota agriculture through interactive exhibits. Representatives from the Emerging Farmers Office and Minnesota Grown will provide information on supporting local farmers year-round.
Festivalgoers will also be able to participate in a Fan Mail for Farmers activity inside Farm Aid’s HOMEGROWN Village. Here, attendees can learn more about the daily challenges farmers face and write postcards of encouragement and appreciation to Minnesota farm families.
Farm Aid’s efforts to uplift farmers align with the MDA’s mission to enhance the quality of life for all Minnesotans by ensuring food safety, protecting the environment, and strengthening agricultural resilience.
The festival also highlights the importance of farmer well-being. For those experiencing mental health struggles, resources such as the Minnesota Farm and Rural Helpline are available 24/7 at 833-600-2670 and online at minnesotafarmstress.com.
By hosting this national event, Minnesota shines a light on the strength, resilience, and contributions of its farming community while offering festivalgoers an opportunity to connect directly with the people who grow their food.
