Iowa State University Extension and Outreach’s Farm, Food and Enterprise Development program will host a free webinar for small and mid-sized farm operators on October 14. The one-hour session, titled “Level Up Your Farm: Unlock Profitability with Digital Tools,” will run from 10 to 11 a.m. in partnership with Big Data in a Box.
The webinar aims to help farmers adopt simple digital tools to track farm data, improve efficiency, and increase profitability. Organizers stress that rising costs, labor shortages, and regulatory pressures make digital transformation a timely and necessary solution for producers.
“Rising costs, labor shortages and complex regulations leave many small producers searching for ways to streamline operations and increase profitability,” said Alex Van Alstyne, food business extension specialist at Iowa State. “One of the most promising solutions is embracing digital transformation.”
The program is designed to provide practical, immediately useful insights without overwhelming participants.
Farmers will learn strategies to capture and organize data, apply insights to planting and labor management, and explore how digital tools can strengthen compliance. Emerging technologies, including generative artificial intelligence, will also be introduced.
Examples will be shared on how data can support value-added ventures, from boosting production efficiency to identifying profitable market opportunities. Attendees will gain take-home strategies to improve their bottom line while making their operations more resilient.
Registration is free, and all participants will receive an online session link. More information and sign-up details are available through the official registration page.
