At the Iowa State Fair, Farm Bureau Park is shining a spotlight on the remarkable conservation efforts of Iowa farmers. The state ranks number one nationally in various conservation practices, such as water quality wetlands, bioreactors, and conservation tillage. Fairgoers can join in fun trivia games and win prizes while experiencing Iowa's rich farming history.
The theme of the park is "Generations of Conservation," highlighting how each farming generation builds on the progress of the previous one, adopting new technologies for sustainable agriculture. These advancements have led to increased productivity with fewer resources and an 18% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from U.S. agriculture since 1990.
Iowa Farm Bureau members can enjoy special gifts and enter contests to win groceries and fuel. There's even a chance to win $500 in groceries through the Member Benefit Challenge. Young farmers will host activities for children, and the Iowa Farm Bureau Cookout Contest will feature backyard chefs competing for the Grand Champion title and a $1,000 cash prize.
Farm Bureau Park will also honor Century Farms and Heritage Farms that have been in the same family for 100 and 150 years, respectively. Visitors can learn about Farm Rescue, an organization supporting farmers facing challenges, and get health screenings for skin cancer, glaucoma, hearing, balance, stroke detection, and blood pressure.
Don't miss the chance to visit Farm Bureau Park during the Iowa State Fair and celebrate Iowa farmers' conservation efforts and their commitment to sustainable farming practices.
