Arendt Hired as Regional Director for Iowa State University Extension

Bruce Arendt has accepted the position of regional director with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach serving Howard, Winneshiek, Allamakee and Chickasaw counties in northeastern Iowa. He begins the position Feb. 6. As regional director, Arendt will provide administrative leadership to county extension office staff and guidance to county extension councils.

At present, Arendt is an academic coach and English for speakers of other languages instructor for Northeast Iowa Community College. He owned his own financial coaching business and has worked for the Student Academic Support Center for Luther College. Prior to that, he was an English as a second language instructor at Mount Hood Community College and worked as an instructor for the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization, both in Oregon.

“Bruce’s experience in education and work with underserved populations will bring a dynamic perspective to his role as a regional director,” said Andrea Nelson, assistant vice president with ISU Extension and Outreach. “We congratulate him and welcome him to Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.”

Arendt holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish, a master’s in teaching of English as a second language and applied linguistics, and a master’s in family and consumer sciences, all from Iowa State University.

ISU Extension and Outreach is part of the federal Cooperative Extension Service — a network of more than 100 land-grant institutions, including Iowa State University, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture serving communities and counties across the United States. Every county in Iowa has an elected extension council that decides how to support ISU Extension and Outreach educational programs at the county level.
