Agricultural and Rural Policy Club Boosts Student Engagement

Agricultural and Rural Policy Club Boosts Student Engagement

By Andi Anderson

The Agricultural and Rural Policy Studies Club is a student group committed to helping students learn more about agriculture, rural issues, and related public policies. Its main goal is to improve awareness of policy challenges in agriculture and provide events that explore these important topics.

The club also focuses on helping students connect with lawmakers and industry professionals. One key aim is to support students interested in agricultural law by preparing them for law school through guidance, networking, and learning opportunities.

Meetings are held monthly, usually on the third Wednesday, in 311 East Hall. Members are notified through email and the club’s Instagram page @agpolicyclub_isu. These meetings include discussions, guest speakers, and planning for future events.

Since the club is small, students have plenty of chances to take on leadership roles. Currently, the club has nine leadership positions, giving members a chance to grow their leadership and teamwork skills.

One of the club’s most popular events is the annual Capitol Spring Day Trip. During this trip, members meet directly with state lawmakers, including senators, representatives, and advisors on agriculture and energy policy. It’s a great chance for students to see how government works and how policy decisions are made.

The club is open to all students—there are no special requirements to join. The only thing needed is a willingness to learn and take part in activities.

What makes the Agricultural and Rural Policy Studies Club unique is its strong network of members, advisors, and alumni. With access to experienced professionals in the field, members get real-world insights and guidance on future careers in agricultural policy.

This club is a great space for students who care about agriculture and want to make a difference through policy and leadership.
