Ag Chemical Dealer Meetings to Provide Timely Updates for 2023

Each growing season presents its own challenges. Prepare for the 2023 growing season by attending one of the two Ag Chemical Dealer Update meetings presented by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach on Dec. 13 in Nevada or Dec. 14 in a new eastern location for 2022, the Southeast Research and Demonstration Farm near Crawfordsville.

Ag input providers will be able to meet with extension specialists to review current research, discuss new pests and learn of new management recommendations.

"These meetings offer a valuable opportunity to prepare for the next growing season with new crop management information. Additionally, attendees can receive their 2022 weed, insect, and disease commercial applicator continuing instruction in this one comprehensive meeting," said Meaghan Anderson, ISU Extension and Outreach field agronomist.

Topics to be covered include a review of the 2022 growing season, soybean gall midge management, new soil fertility research and recommendations, and two interactive sessions participants will rotate through. The interactive sessions will feature herbicide use and safety and disease management topics.

The meetings also offer Iowa Commercial Pesticide Applicator recertification in categories 1A, 1B, 1C for calendar year 2022. Recertification is included in meeting registration. Attendance at the entire meeting is required for recertification.

Additionally, meetings are approved for Certified Crop Adviser credits (0.5 soil and water management, 1.0 nutrient management, and 4.0 pest management, which includes the optional applicator training session).

Early registration is $70 if received by midnight, Dec. 6 (Nevada) or Dec. 7 (Crawfordsville). Late or on-site registration is $85. Visit www.aep.iastate.edu/acu for program details or to register online. For additional information contact an ISU Extension and Outreach field agronomist hosting the meeting.
