Registration is now open for the Siouxland Agricultural Lender’s Seminar, set to take place on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the Dordt Ag Stewardship Center in Sioux Center, Iowa. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with registration starting at 8:30 a.m.
The seminar is designed to provide agricultural lenders, consultants, and farm financial advisors with current, research-based information to help manage their portfolios effectively, especially in light of ongoing market variability and lower farm profits.
Lenders who work with clients in agriculture, particularly those in dairy or forage production, in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, and South Dakota, are strongly encouraged to attend.
The seminar will cover a range of critical topics, including right to repair legislation, the used machinery market, farm succession planning, and the market outlooks for livestock, grain, and dairy production. With the growing presence of women in agricultural roles, one session will focus on strategies for building strong relationships in ag lending.
Key presentations include:
- "Right to Repair Legislation" by Jennifer Harrington, Staff Attorney at the Center for Agricultural Law and Taxation, Iowa State University.
- "The Ever-Changing Game of the Used Machinery Market: What Goes Up Must Come Down" by Joe Everitt, Owner of Joel’s Tractors and Auction LLC.
- "Milk Market Update" by Dr. Leonard Polzin, Dairy Markets and Policy Outreach Specialist, UW-Madison.
- "Family Farm Transitioning and Succession Planning" by Joy Kirkpatrick, Farm Succession Specialist, UW-Madison’s Center for Dairy Profitability.
- "Through Another Lens: Women in Ag Lending" by Val Weis, Commercial Lending Officer, Farm Credit Services of America.
- "Commodity Market Outlook" by Joseph Lensing, Farm Management Specialist, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.
The event promises to provide attendees with valuable information to navigate today’s challenging agricultural markets, improve financial management strategies, and help ensure long-term success for farming operations across the Midwest.
For those working in agricultural finance, this seminar will offer crucial insights and practical tools to support their clients and contribute to the broader agricultural community.
